Growing up I always heard the same statistics of Latino’s been more prone to acquiring low-glycemic index in the community. Of course, I had little to no understanding of what that meant and was. As years went by I started to realize my grandfather had it, then my aunt acquire, then years after my mother was diagnose. Being that my mother is the one parent I care the most about, I immediately drove a few hours to be with her after the news. In fact, since the diagnosis I have learned much more about Type 1 and Type 2. Along with how to prolong acquiring, if ever.
3 Tips To Incorporate This Summer With Someone Who Is Insulin-Resistant
- Go outside. Seating around the house is not ideal to anyone in general. Make it a point to spend time outdoors at least 3 times a week. As I mentioned previously Type 2 runs in my family and I have to more cautious in the decisions I make. Therefore, I do the best I can to stay active!
- Take vitamins. Take vitamins. I am a firm believer in taking vitamins daily, although I tend to forget at times. Indeed I do notice a difference when I don’t take them. Nature Made® Daily Diabetes Health Pack provides essential vitamins and minerals for daily nutritional support.† These vitamins and minerals come in convenient, portable packages that I can take anywhere. It makes it easier to remember to take my vitamins.
- Stay away from sugars. There is no stressing enough of how important it is to stay away from refined sugars! Although I have to confess to having the sweetest tooth of all, it’s a disadvantage my family and I battle with.
In the meantime I want to encourage all of you to have a healthier lifestyle and diet! It can only benefit you in the long run, whether insulin resistant runs in your family or not. After seeing both my grandfather who raised me and my mother battle with their diagnosis, I’m encouraged to help them fight the battle. This summer I will be giving them each the gift of Nature Made® Diabetes Health Pack because it inspires healthy choices to live a healthier life. Lastly, I hope me being more open about my personal life and struggles helped you in any way, shape or form.
